Accreditation Status
The Master's of Science (MS) education program in Speech-Language Pathology {residential} at Indiana University South Bend is a Candidate for Accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard, #310, Rockville, MD 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700. Candidacy is a "preaccreditation" status with the CAA, awarded to developing or emerging programs for a maximum period of 5 years.
After 5 years, the program can apply for initial accreditation. Students who graduate from a Candidacy program are fully eligible to apply for the clinical certification after successful completion of a fellowship year. Rest assured, you will be able to obtain your CCCs.
"Follow the link on the left column of this page for Tuition and Fees. The MS-SLP tuition is listed under "Graduate Rehabilitation Sciences Tuition." In-state and Out-of-State tuition rates are listed. The program is 67 credit hours.
Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP)/ Midwest Student Enrollment Award (MSEA)
Residents of Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, and Wisconsin are eligible for this exchange program that offers reduced out of state tuition equal to 150% of the in state resident tuition rate. Illinois and Michigan removed themselves from this compact, but IUSB supports a Midwest Student Enrollment Award (MSEA) that provides the same benefit as the MSEP. It just has a different application process. Information for both can be found here https://southbend.iu.edu/students/scholarships/out-of-state.html and the office of Financial Aid can also assist you with further questions. Many of our students take advantage of the MSEA.
Once you accept your position here, we ask that you proceed with filling out the GradCAS application. The application fee is $40 and you are not required to send transcripts through GradCAS. It's just biographical information and educational history that are submitted. About 2-3 days after you submit that, the system generates an IU ID number. The program will help you locate that number which you will need to send in the deposit.
A $100 nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve your seat in the class. This deposit is applied to your first semester fees. Submit a personal check, money order or cashier’s check payable to Indiana University. Include your name and University ID number on the check.
