Apply for Scholarships

Each year students in the Vera Z. Dwyer College of Health Sciences are awarded thousands of dollars through merit and need-based scholarship funds. Some of these scholarships are degree specific, while others are open to any degree within the college.

How to apply for scholarships:

Step 1: Complete the Online Scholarship Application by March 1st

Step 2: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)*

*FAFSA is not required for scholarship consideration. However, students are strongly encouraged to submit the FAFSA for MAXIMUM SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY.

Step 3: Continue to check your IU email regularly (once per day). If you need to submit any additional materials for specific scholarships, you will be notified via email.

All CHS Students

  • Regular admission to Indiana University
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Cumulative GPA at Indiana University of 3 or higher
  • Renewable for CHS students

  • Undergraduate or graduate students
  • Must study in Dwyer College of Health Sciences
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Renewable for CHS students

  • Full time-student enrolled in any program with Dwyer College of Health Sciences (including incoming freshmen)
  • Indiana resident
  • Demonstrate unmet financial need
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Preferred 20% of the total scholarship funds available annually to students from LaPorte County
  • Renewable for CHS students

Dental Hygiene

  • Must be accepted into the Dental Hygiene clinical program
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrate excellence or potential in both clinical and academic aspects of program
  • Demonstrate financial need

  • Determined by Program Director
  • Graduating senior who has shown outstanding ability and interest in preventative patient education

  • Determined by Program Director
  • Graduating senior in clinical Dental Hygiene program
  • Has highest ranking defined by GPA

  • Must be accepted into the Dental Hygiene clinical program
  • Full time-student in the Dental Hygiene clinical program
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Full-time senior in the Dental Hygiene clinical program

Nursing - Bachelor's

  • Undergradute student majoring in Nursing at IU South Bend
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Special consideration to underrepresented populations, including but not limited to financially challenged students with diverse cultural experiences
  • Renewable for CHS students

  • Nursing student pre or clinical
  • US citizen or permanent resident
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Preference for US citizen residing in Elkhart County or St. Joseph County, Indiana
  • Renewable for CHS students

  • Student enrolled in the BSN program
  • Student must remain in good academic standing
  • Regular admission to Indiana University
  • Cumulative GPA at IU of 3.0 or above
  • Demonstrate financial need

  • Indiana resident
  • Must be accepted into Clinical Nursing program
  • Full-time undergraduate or part-time graduate student
  • GPA 3.0 or above
  • Financial need is considered
  • Demonstrates a commitment to work in nursing in the state of Indiana upon graduation

  • Will be determined by DCHS Student Affairs Committee, IUSB School of Nursing or Dean

  • Student must be a woman accepted into the Nursing clinical program
  • Indiana resident only
  • Regular admission to Indiana University
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Cumulative GPA at IU of 3.0 or higher

 

  • Undergraduate student enrolled in School of Nursing 
  • Indiana resident

  • Previously earned bachelor's degree
  • Enrolled as a full-time student
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicant must be involved in volunteer work
    or active member in the SNA

  • Enrollment in the BSN program
  • Regular admission to Indiana University
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Cumulative GPA at Indiana University of 3.0 or higher

Nursing - Master's

  • Full-time student
  • GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Interested in Family Nurse Practitioner profession
  • Must work with organizations that are supporting underserved populations, as student or volunteer
  • Preference to active military/veterans, diverse, bilingual student populations

  • Indiana resident
  • Must be accepted into Clinical Nursing program
  • Full-time undergraduate or part-time graduate student
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Financial need is considered
  • Demonstrates a commitment to work in nursing in the state of Indiana upon graduation

  • Previously earned bachelor's degree
  • Enrolled as a full-time student 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher 
  • Applicant must be involved in volunteer work
    or active member in the SNA

  • Preference will be given to graduate student
  • Enrolled in School of Nursing
  • Strong academic excellence with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2
  • Have an earned degree
    • must have an earned BSN from IU South Bend
  • Passion and leadership in his or her classes
  • Student must demonstrate financial need

Radiography and Medical Imaging

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Preference given to employees of the MRI Center/Radiology, Inc.

  • Applicant must be formally admitted to the Clinical Radiography program
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all clinical coursework

  • Enrolled in the Bachelor in Medical Imaging Technology program
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • Preference is given to students who have earned an associate degree in Medical Imaging
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Renewable for Bachelor in Medical Imaging Technology program

  • Must be accepted into the AS in Radiography Clinical Professional program
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Preference given to employees of Radiology, Inc.
