Stephen M. Salisbury has a B.S. in Economics with minors in Business Administration and Sociology. He is currently a Masters candidate in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at IU South Bend. He has served as the President of the Student Body and Student Government Association at IU South Bend and as the Editor-in-Chief of the Undergraduate Research Journal. Stephen has had his work published in two student publications at IU South Bend: the Undergraduate Research Journal and New Views on Gender. He has also won awards in business writing and Sociology research at the IU South Bend Undergraduate Research Conference and placed in the Top 3 at the IU Statewide Undergraduate Research Conference in 2016. He is a former winner of the Women and Gender Studies Writing Award, the Ariela Royer Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students, the Linda M. Fritschner Scholarship in Sociological Research, the George Wing Memorial Scholarship in Economics and Finance, and was named the sole winner in 2016 of the Chad Pearson Memorial Scholarship given to a student who demonstrates service to others and who intends to pursue a career in human services, public service, or education. While serving as Student Body President, Stephen was a member of the All University Student Association and the Student Representative to the University Faculty Council. Stephen is also a member of the International Honor Society for Economics, Omicron Delta Epsilon. In the summer of 2016, he worked as an undergraduate researcher in the Economics department at the University of Notre Dame. He spent a year as an intern for the City of Elkhart's Planning and Redevelopment Dept. Stephen helped develop and implement the MoneySmarts Financial Literacy program on the IU South Bend campus as a certified Peer Financial Educator and has also served for several years as a Peer Mentor and Lead Peer Mentor in the First Year Seminar program and the Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics. He has also worked for several years as a Math, Science, Business, Sociology, and Statistics tutor both at the university and privately.
