Dr. Teat is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing in the Dwyer School of Health Sciences. Her initial degrees are in the areas of Social Work holding a Bachelors of Social Work from Oakwood University and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Cincinnati. She furthered her education by obtaining an Accelerated Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio in 2006 and in 2023 she graduated from Andrews University with her Doctorate and Masters in nursing. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Teat has over 30 years as a direct-practice social worker and 19 years of clinical nursing experience in intermediate care, intensive care, and emergency room clinical settings. She currently teaches in the BSN program and maintains clinical practices as a Family Nurse Practitioner and enjoys volunteering as triage director for community and mega medical mission clinics throughout the United States. Dr. Teat enjoys interacting with students and patients of all ages and backgrounds and considers it a privilege to serve patients and students in providing healthcare to others. Dr. Teat has a passion for education and a desire to advocate for the nursing profession by educating future nurses in compassionate care.
