Pre-Dental Hygiene Students
If you are interested in beginning an exciting and diverse career in dental hygiene the first step is getting acquainted with our advising team in the School of Health Sciences. To schedule an appointment with an advisor, please use the Student Appointment Scheduler App found on One.IU. Once scheduled one of our knowledgeable and helpful advisors will help you manage your academic schedule through iGPS.
All students will take pre-requisite biomedical science and non-science courses prior to applying to the professional dental hygiene program. The knowledge within the dental hygiene program builds on the pre-requisite courses. To be successful in the professional program, and to safely practice dental hygiene, students must have a full understanding of both pre-requisite and program course concepts. Information learned freshman year of college will be used through the student's future career in dental hygiene. All students will take courses in the following areas:
- Biomedical Sciences
- General Education (see IUSB General Education for more information)
- Communications
- Social Sciences
- Fundamental Literacies
- Common Core (one must be at the 390/399 level)
- Contemporary Social Values
